Dinner For Our First Lutheran Brothers And Sisters

As a part of St Thomas’ centennial celebrations the Centennial Team wanted to find a way to honour the long standing, unique and inspiring friendship between St Thomas Church and First Lutheran Church.  The Team cam up with the idea that we should invite our brothers and sisters from First Lutheran over to ‘our place’ for a special potluck dinner in their honour.  We did this on Saturday and it was certainly one of the highlights of our centennial celebrations thus far.

We had a fantastic turnout of about eighty people and as usual the cooks of St Thomas proved once again they are among the best there is.  Patrick (Interim Priest at St Thomas) and Hergy (Pastor at First Lutheran) both spoke about the importance of the tie between our two churches.  There was also some fantastic entertainment.  Alejandro recited a poem as our Poet Laureate for the occasion, and our wonderful Guitar Group performed two hymns by them selves and then led us all in a singalong.

The feeling of fellowship and friendship was tremendous and a big thank you goes to the Centennial Team for organizing the event and to all those who helped our in setting up, cooking the food and in cleaning up.  It was truly a wonderful event that will be remembered for a very long time.
