Saint Thomas Honours Don Henry
At our Sunday service on February 20, Saint Thomas Church honoured our long-time Warden and Church Council member Don Henry for his decades of service and ministry to the church. At our last Warden’s meeting Don informed us that he would not be seeking re-election as Warden in the next Church Vestry Meeting and would be stepping down from Church Council as well. After forty-six years in one or both of these positions the church feels a deep loss as Don steps down, but we are also very thankful for Don’s incredible legacy of leadership.
At our service on Sunday Warden Jackie Funnelle said that Don’s leadership through all these years has been a large reason for our church’s success and we all owe Don a huge debt of gratitude. Don was awarded a personally embossed leather gift Bible, a framed picture of the congregation and the famed and much coveted St Thomas cheque for a million thanks produced by Dennis Yonge. Don was very moved by the presentation and expressed his thanks to everyone. While Don is stepping down from his leadership roles, we will of course look forward to many, many more years with Don and Marj being well love members of our congregation. Thank you Don for all your hard work, dedication, leadership and wise council over the past forty-six years!
