Ascension Day Service

Thursday, May 9 at 7PM

Holy Eucharist followed by a dessert potluck

Ascension Day is one of the Principal Feasts of the Anglican Church of Canada, and one of the great festivals of the Christian year. It commemorates the event described by Luke in his gospel (24.50-52) and at Acts 1.9-11, in which Jesus is taken up into heaven forty days after the Resurrection. Ascension is the fulfillment of Christmas, when God descended from heaven to earth, and in story form proclaims the doctrine expressed in the Athanasian Creed, that we are saved "not by conversion of Godhead into flesh, but by taking of Manhood into God."
