Reverend Christian Okeke

Christian Obunike Okeke was born in Nigeria, and he also grew up there. Chris has a Bachelor's
Degree in Religion and Human Relations at the University of Nigeria. He completed classwork
for a Master's Degree in Religion and Society at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria before
his move to Canada. He has a Master's Degree in Theological Studies from Regent College, Vancouver and is working on a Professional Certificate Program in Addiction Counseling.

He answered the call to the pastoral ministry in 2000 and after eight years of pastoral training and formation, he was made a deacon in 2008 and was ordained a priest in 2009. He served in different pastoral positions in the church both as a lay and ordained minister. He became a Parish Priest (Rector) of All Saints Church Ukpo, Nigeria in 2010 and served for six years before moving to Canada in 2016 for further studies and ministry. Chris landed in Halifax, NS and provided pastoral leadership to a group of Nigerian Christians in NS for about a year before moving to Vancouver to study at Regent College. After he graduated from Regent College in 2020, Chris worked with Teen Challenge Canada (Ontario Men's Centre) London, ON where he supported individuals in their recovery from substance addiction, and inspired them to live a transformed life. Chris works with youth impacted by addiction and inter-generational trauma as a Youth Care Worker at Inner Hope Youth Ministries, Vancouver.

 

Chris is licensed to officiate as a priest in the Anglican Church of Canada by Bishop John Stephen, the Bishop of the Diocese of New Westminster, and he brings a wealth of cross-cultural and multi-cultural ministry experience to the church, and has a strong passion for youths, children and old people, as he seek to be actively involved in providing them with guidance, care and support. He enjoys music, reading, artwork, sports and travel.
