Rita attrot
Music director
​Rita Attrot has been the Organist and Choir Director at St. Thomas Church since 1999. She began playing the organ at her home church in Victoria, B.C. at the age of 14, and has since been organist and choir director in various churches in Toronto and London, Ontario and in Kentville, Nova Scotia. Rita is a graduate of the University of Victoria (B. Mus.) and the University of Western Ontario (M. Mus.). She also holds diplomas in performance and pedagogy from the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto and the Victoria Conservatory.
Her career spans from coast to coast, with over twenty-five years of experience as a performer, teacher, coach, and adjudicator. Rita has held positions as Staff Accompanist at Acadia University in Nova Scotia (1987-96) and as Coach and Repetiteur at the Opera Division of the University of Toronto (1997-98). She has recorded for the CBC and released a CD with violinist Mishan Han.

Currently, Rita is head of the Piano Department at the B.C. Conservatory of Music in Burnaby where she teaches piano and piano pedagogy. Rita is also the Music Director of the Erato Ensemble, a member of the Wind Song Trio, and the Art Song Chamber Music Group www.ascmgroup.com.
