Join us at St. Thomas Anglican church during our Sunday morning service for an exciting series where we hear from formative figures in various religious tradition concerning the climate crisis.

September 6: Laura Duhan Kaplan - Judaism

Rabbi Laura Duhan-Kaplan, Ph.D., is Dean of Aleph Ordination Program, the Jewish Renewal

Seminary. She is author of Mouth of the Donkey: Reimagining Biblical Animals, and a teacher of earth-based Judaism. Previously, she was Director of Inter-Religious Studies at the Vancouver School of Theology and Rabbi at Or Shalom Synagogue.

September 13 : Gerry Turcotte - Roman Catholicism

Gerry Turcotte is an award-winning writer and journalist, and the author/editor of 23 books. He is currently the President of Corpus Christi College and Principal of St. Mark’s College at UBC. He was gifted his Blackfoot name—Mountain Thunder—in 2022 for his work supporting Truth and Reconciliation initiatives during his 11 years as President of St. Mary’s University, Calgary.

September 20: Indy Singh - Sikh

Mr. Inderjeet 'Indy' Singh, a proud father of two, has devoted more than 25 years to building

and driving education, community support, and faith-centric programs for Sikh youth in North America and Asia. His passion is to connect the divide between today's youth interests and traditionally-inspired spiritual practices. Indy blends modern-western with conventional-eastern pedagogic methods to create a holistic, relevant, and engaging experience for students.

September 27: Tariq Tyab - Islam

Tariq Tyab is a nonprofit leader and philanthropist with more than 25 years of experience

advancing interfaith collaboration, social justice, and the empowerment of racialized

communities. He founded British Columbia’s Foundation for a Path Forward and co-founded the Muslim Food Bank, Muslim Care Centre, and Islam Unravelled as well as formerly an executive at the BC Muslim Association the Province of BC largest Muslim organization. His work is grounded in the belief that people of all backgrounds and faiths can come together to build a more just, compassionate, and sustainable future.

October 4: Norm Leech - Indigenous

Norm speaks widely on inter-generational trauma due to colonization. He grew up in East

Vancouver, with ancestry in the T’it’q’et community of the St’at’imc nation where he has served as Chief and also Administrator. He draws on his experiences as a recovering alcoholic/ addict, inter-generational survivor, and spiritual explorer to inform his current work which includes several boards and committees.
